The approximately 350-400-year-old monumental cypress/cypress tree located on the hill is popularly known as the 'Weeping Tree' because it collects the intense moisture and fog of the Black Sea rising from the sea in its leaves and drops it down in drops at certain times of the year. In folk legends, it is believed that this tree shed tears after the sailors who sailed from Amasra and could not return and prayed for the reunion of lovers.
