Elmadağ Ski Center (1850m)

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Elmadağ Ski Center, the winter sports, skiing and winter tourism center of the capital Ankara, is a well-established winter paradise established on the northern slopes of Elmadağ Mountain, at an altitude of 1,850 meters. The facility has been the meeting point of universities, mountaineering clubs and ski enthusiasts in the capital since the first years of the Republic; It provides service with a 700-meter teleski line, amateur and professional ski slopes, sled areas and mountain hotels. With its snow quality and being only 25 km away from the capital city centre, it hosts tens of thousands of Ankara residents during the winter months. According to local legend, the peaks of Elmadağ resemble a snow-white bride in winter; It is said that the howling winds blowing on the mountain are the songs of mountain fairies. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features The facilities are located at an exact altitude of 1,850 meters. The tracks, consisting of treeless high mountain meadows and rocky ridges, are covered with a 50-100 cm thick powder snow cover throughout the winter.
