Yeşildere Recreation Area & Springs
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Located within the borders of Elmadağ's Yeşildere District, under the shadow of centuries-old grand poplar and walnut trees, Yeşildere Recreation Area and Springs are a historical water and recreation paradise where the karst spring waters of Elmadağ Mountain flow ice cold. The springs, from which caravans and transhumants have been drinking water for centuries, have been accepted as healing by the local people, as they flow ice cold in the sweltering heat of summer and warm in winter. Rumor has it that those who drink water from Yeşildere springs will live longer and will not suffer from indigestion. The area, landscaped by the municipality and equipped with camellias and picnic areas, is a peaceful meeting point for families who want to be alone with nature. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features The recreation area is located on the bottom of a green valley at an altitude of 1,100 meters. It has a cool microclimate dotted with clear spring waters, aqueducts, lush green meadows and giant willow trees. Visiting Hours, Days and Entrance Fees
