Pazarköy Historical Town and Çarşı Mosque

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Pazarköy, one of the oldest settlement centers of Mengen; It was established as a large trade market and town center where caravan routes intersected during the Ottoman period. It is a town where time stands still, with its traditional shops with wooden shutters, historical stone coffeehouses and a square shaded by centuries-old plane trees. Pazarköy Mosque in the square attracts attention with its late Ottoman period wooden ceiling decorations and stone-based minaret. In the narratives in the region; It is said that the first chefs from Mengen who went to the Ottoman palace demonstrated their skills in the Pazarköy market and the palace chefs selected their apprentices from there.
