About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Karaköy and Eldere Waterfalls are a natural paradise hidden in the lush pine valleys of Çeltikçi district, where the clear springs of the Lakes Region pour from the rocks. In the narratives among the local people, it is said that the waters flowing in this valley have been considered healing since ancient times, that the wheat of the region has been ground in historical water mills for centuries, and that the coolness of the canyon revives the transhumants in the summer months. The untouched nature around the waterfall is a favorite among hikers with its bird sounds and waterfall rhythm. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features Located at an altitude of approximately 880 meters, the valley is fed by spring waters roaring on the limestone canyon floor. Waterfalls pour into natural rock pools from approximately 10-15 meters. Centuries-old plane trees, wild olives, walnut trees and rich herbaceous flora extend throughout the valley.
