Olbasa Ancient City is an important military and administrative center in the southwest of the ancient Pisidia region, which gained colony status during the reign of Roman Emperor Augustus. The city, known as 'Colonia Iulia Augusta Olbasena' in historical records, is a sheltered mountain fortress where Roman legionnaires were settled. In legends among the local people, it is believed that the rock reliefs and lion statues carved on the steep hill are the guards who protect the valley from evil. Remains of city walls, cisterns and mausoleums on the Acropolis hill have survived to the present day. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features
It rises on a steep limestone hill at an altitude of approximately 1,180 meters, near Belenli Village in Kemer district of Burdur. It is surrounded by acorns, juniper trees and rich Mediterranean mountain maquis. When viewed from the top, the southern plains of Burdur and the Taurus mountain range can be observed panoramically. •Entrance Fee:It is an open archaeological site and entrance is completely free.•Visiting Hours and Days (Mandatory): Open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; Daylight hours (08:30 - 18:30) are recommended to see the historical ruins and reliefs clearly.•Rules, Safety and Stroller/Disabled Access: The climbing path to the acropolis area is stony and sloping; Walking shoes are a must. Not stroller or wheelchair accessible. Historical stones should not be damaged or excavated.•Facilities and Facilities:The ruins are untouched; There are no commercial facilities. Basic needs can be met in Belenli village.
