Registered Mustafakemalpaşa Cheese Dessert Gastronomy Route
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Mustafakemalpaşa Dessert (traditionally known as Cheese Dessert) is a unique dessert heritage produced with fresh sheep and cow cheeses in Kirmasti (Mustafakemalpaşa) dairies since the last period of the Ottoman Empire. It is made by kneading the daily fresh unsalted cheese, milked from dairy animals fed in the rich pastures of the district, with flour, semolina and eggs, drying it in the oven, then swelling it in boiling sugar sherbet and softening it like Turkish delight. Although factory-made dry packages are known in Turkey, the real taste is the fresh cheese dessert made hot from the oven in Mustafakemalpaşa district. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is located at an altitude of approximately 45 meters, in the heart of the fertile plain, on the banks of the Mustafakemalpaşa Stream (Kirmasti Stream). The region's rich dairy culture and centuries-old pasture tradition are the main source of the high-fat, unsalted sheep-cow cheese that gives the dessert its flavor.
