History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Bozcaada Greek District (Cumhuriyet District) is a living open-air museum with narrow cobblestone streets, stone mansions with colorful shutters, bougainvilleas, art galleries and the Virgin Mary (Kimisis Teodoku) Church with its magnificent 4-storey stone bell tower built in 1869.
