About & Visitor Guide

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore The history of the yellow-red club, founded in 1905 by Ali Sami Yen and his friends in the 5th grade of Galatasaray High School, with the aim of 'defeating non-Turkish teams', is intertwined with the 1868 Mekteb-i Sultani tradition. Türkiye's first sports museum, founded by Ali Sami Yen in Kalamış in 1915, currently operates in the historical Beyoğlu Post Office building on Istiklal Street, right across from Galatasaray High School. The second floor of the museum is dedicated to the students who were martyred in Çanakkale, from the founding of the high school, and the third floor is dedicated to the sports victories of the club.
