Historical Bayraklı Central Mosque and Square Fountain (19th Century)

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore The Historical Center Mosque, built in the center of the Bayraklı coastal settlement during the late 19th century Ottoman period, is the oldest Islamic place of worship in the district with its hipped-roof masonry structure, elegant stone minaret and octagonal marble fountain in its courtyard. The square, gathered under the centuries-old plane trees around it, is the heart of Bayraklı's sailor and tradesman culture.
