Yeşilova Mound, discovered by the Ege University Archeology Department and dating the founding of Izmir to 8,500 years ago (6500 BC Neolithic Period), is the oldest known settlement area of the Aegean Region. In the European Union award-winning modern Visitor Center and Time Travel Archaeopark; There are recreations of Neolithic houses built by the first people of Izmir from reeds and mud, bone and obsidian tools, fertility goddess figurines, first pottery and experimental archeology workshops.
