Historical Yukarıköy, which is the oldest settlement core of Narlıdere and whose roots are based on the tolerant unity of Tahtacı Turkmens and Levantine Greek culture, is the living history oasis of the city with its restored cut stone mansions and narrow cobblestone streets. It is a registered urban protected area that preserves the warmth of a traditional Aegean village within the metropolis, with its village square shaded by a centuries-old grand plane tree, women's producer cooperative market, colorful flowered courtyards and wooden shuttered stone houses.
