Karamuk Plateau and Pine Forests

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Karamuk Plateau is a fascinating natural plateau located at an altitude of 1,400 meters on the foothills of Ballıdağ and surrounded by Scots pine and larch forests. It takes its name from the medicinal barberry bushes that grow abundantly on its slopes. The plateau, where Daday villagers have grazed their horses and herds for centuries, offers a relaxing atmosphere with its clean air and plenty of oxygen. Local tradition says that the juice of barberry roots is healing for the liver and digestion. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is a high mountain plateau with an altitude of approximately 1,400 meters.
