Historical Fişekhane Tower and MKE Industrial Heritage Park
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Historical Cartridge Tower and Industrial Heritage Park is the symbolic monument tower of the historical MKE Cartridge Factory, which was established with the directives of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk after the War of Independence and transformed Kırıkkale, a small village, into the defense industry capital of Türkiye. The red brick tower, built in the mid-1920s, is the most concrete witness of the Republic's first heavy industry move. In the factory legends, it is stated that after the bullets carried by oxcarts in the War of Independence, young Turkey cemented its independence by producing its own bullets and cartridges in the shadow of these towers, and the first Turkish flag hung on the tower was watched with tears of joy from all Kırıkkale skies. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is located in Kırıkkale city center, at the entrance of the MKE Factories area, at an altitude of approximately 750 meters. The park reflects the aesthetics of the industrial architecture of the Republican period; It is a green cultural corridor enriched with centuries-old plane trees, nostalgic factory locomotives, lathes and open-air sculpture areas.
