Kizilirmak River Promenade and Boat Pier History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore

  • •The river cordon established at the point where Kızılırmak, the longest river in Turkey, passes through the Yahşihan Strait, is an ancient waterway basin integrated with the historical iron bridge crossing route of the Ottoman Empire.
  • •According to local narratives, it is said that the centuries-old willows and reeds on the banks of the river inspired reed lovers, and that Hacı Taşan and the local bards composed their folk songs with the roar of Kızılırmak.
