About & Visitor Guide

History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore The historical Kadı Ali Mosque is the oldest Ottoman place of worship in the city, located in the center of Lüleburgaz, the largest district of Thrace, and which carries the civil and religious architecture of the 15th century Fatih Sultan Mehmed Khan era to the present day. The mosque was built by Kadı Ali Çelebi, one of the distinguished judges of the period; It is an elegant example of Early Ottoman architecture with its alternating cut stone and brick masonry, single-domed square plan scheme and octagonal drum. Its minaret attracts attention with its elegant shoelace and body, displaying the characteristic brickwork of the period. This grand structure, which is approximately a century older than the Sokollu Mehmed Pasha Complex, constituted the first settlement nucleus of Lüleburgaz under Ottoman rule. According to local legend, it is believed that the prayers of the oppressed who were treated unfairly were answered in this temple built by Kadı Ali, who was famous for his justice and honesty, and that the hearts of those who drank water from the mosque's fountain under the centuries-old plane tree were relieved. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is located in the Lüleburgaz district center, within the borders of Kocasinan District, at an altitude of approximately 45 meters.
