Kırşehir Martyrdom and Martyrs' Monument
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Kırşehir Martyrdom (Air Pilot Petty Officer Sergeant Ahmet Tozluklu Martyrdom) is the eternal resting place of the beloved heroes of Kırşehir who sacrificed their lives in defense of the homeland, from Çanakkale to the War of Independence, from the fight against terrorism to cross-border operations. The martyrs' cemetery, which was established to keep alive the memory of the brave and patriotic sons of Kırşehir, the land of the Ahis, is one of the most sacred spiritual areas of the city with its rising Turkish flag, marble inscriptions and monument base. A deep belief has been passed down among the people for generations that the spirit of the martyrs protects the city like a spiritual shield and that light shines on the graves on Friday nights. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features The cemetery was established on a slightly sloping and airy slope, at an altitude of approximately 1,010 meters above sea level, on the steppe plateau of Central Anatolia. The area is surrounded by lush cypress, acacia, blue spruce and larch trees. The area receives the cool breeze of the steppe during the summer months, and is filled with dignity and tranquility with the white snow cover in the winter. Visiting Hours, Days and Entrance Fees
