About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore The historical Melikgazi Tomb is a monumental tomb architecture that resembles the Seljuk tent form, built for Muzaffereddin Muhammed, a member of the Mengücekoğulları dynasty, in the mid-13th century (estimated between 1240-1250). It is believed among the people that the person lying under the dome is one of the blessed conquerors and spiritual protectors of Kırşehir; It has been revered as a saint's place for prayers for centuries. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is located in the city center of Kırşehir, at an altitude of approximately 990 meters above sea level, within the old neighborhood settlement where the historical texture is preserved.
