Ömerli Pınarcık Martyrdom and Monument
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Ömerli Pınarcık Martyrdom was built to keep alive the cherished memory of 30 civilian citizens, from newborn babies to women and the elderly, and our heroic security guards, who were martyred in the treacherous terrorist attack targeting the unity and integrity of the country on June 20, 1987. This monumental cemetery, which is a symbol of civilian sacrifice and national resistance in Türkiye's fight against terrorism, is one of the most respected and sad spiritual visiting points of the region with its marble base on which the Turkish flag flies. A deep belief in loyalty has been kept alive among the people for generations that the spirit of innocent martyrs and guards continues to guard the homeland in the mountains. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features The Martyrdom is located on a spacious slope surrounded by oak and almond trees, at an altitude of approximately 1,050 meters above sea level, in the east of the Mardin Threshold plateau. The hard limestones and windy steppe air of the rural Mesopotamian geography give the area a solemn tranquility. Visiting Hours, Days and Entrance Fees
