Muş Garrison Martyrdom and Monument
About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore Muş Garrison Martyrdom and Monument was built to keep alive the cherished memory of the heroic members of the Turkish Armed Forces and our police forces who sacrificed their lives in the Caucasian Front of World War I, in the Eastern Operation of the War of Independence and for the indivisible integrity of the homeland. The graves and name inscriptions of our soldiers who reached the level of martyrdom in the Muş Plain and the surrounding mountains, one of the key crossroads of Eastern Anatolia, are preserved with dignity here. Among the local people, the belief that the spirit of the sons of the country who were martyred in the liberation of Muş from Russian occupation protects the city and the plain like a spiritual shield is remembered with respect. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features The Martyrdom is located in the city center of Muş, on the Atatürk Boulevard route, at an altitude of approximately 1,320 meters above sea level. Surrounded by grand pines, acacias and seasonal flower beds that are resistant to the harsh continental climate of Eastern Anatolia, the area constitutes a quiet, green and deep island of spiritual tranquility in the heart of the city.
