About & Visitor Guide
History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore The historical Customs Inn was built by Şanlıurfa Beylerbeyi Behram Pasha in 1563, during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, for the purpose of accommodating the Silk Road merchants and collecting customs goods. The historical water arc fed by the sacred spring waters of Balıklıgöl passes through the middle of the two-storey, large rectangular courtyard, cut stone architecture inn. Gümrük Inn, which has been the most active trade and cultural center of Urfa for centuries, is also known as the 'Lovers and Conversation Coffeehouse' among the public; It is the most important hearth where the tradition of sira nights and the ancient tradesmen's morality are kept alive today. Geographical Structure, Altitude and Natural Features It is located in the center of Eyyübiye historical bazaars, between Haşimiye Square and Grand Bazaar, at an altitude of approximately 520 meters. Thanks to the centuries-old grand plane trees in its courtyard and the sparkling water fountain, it is a natural cooling oasis in the scorching Urfa summer. Visiting Hours, Days and Entrance Fees
