History and General Information / Local Legends and Folklore

  • •It is a monument of national loyalty rising on Sarıtopraklık hill in memory of Kınalı Hasan and the brave sons of Yozgat, who died saying 'Thank you for the homeland' in the Çanakkale Front.
  • •In the martyrs' cemetery area, there are the graves of the heroes from Yozgat who were martyred in the Çanakkale, War of Independence, Korea, Cyprus Peace Operation and internal security operations, and the marble Martyrs' Monument.
  • •In local narratives, it is stated with respect that the souls of the henna-laced lambs from Yozgat, who sacrificed henna to the homeland, greet the entire steppe from this hill and their cherished memories are remembered with pride for generations.   • •The altitude is approximately 1,320 meters above sea level. It is located on a dominant slope on the Sarıtopraklık ridge, overlooking the city of Yozgat and the hills of Çamlık National Park.

  • •Entrance Fee:Visiting the Martyrs' Cemetery is completely free and open to the public.
  • •Visiting Hours and Days:It is open to visitors 7 days a week between 08:00 - 19:00.

  • •Spiritual Visit and Prayer Etiquette: Dignity should be maintained while walking among the graves of the heroes who died for the sake of the country, and Fatiha should be recited for the souls of Kınalı Hasan and all the martyrs.
  • •Documentary & Respectful Shooting:Martyr's monument and martyr's tags should be documented within the limits of respect; Casual selfies should be strictly avoided.
  • •Important Commemoration Days:Official military ceremonies are held on March 18, Martyrs' Memorial Day, Çanakkale Victory and Veterans Day.
  • •Local Spiritual Tradition:On Fridays, rose water is poured on the graves and traditional lokma and halva are offered to visitors.
